Our party has provided the county and many of our municipalities with good, honest and ethical local government. As Democrats, we will continue our work to make Passaic County a great place to live, work and raise a family.
Members of the Passaic County Democratic Executive Committee recently selected candidates for the 2010 election, in November. The Committee voted to place candidates Terry Duffy and Pat Lepore on the Democratic line for Freeholder, Richard Berdnik for Sheriff, and William Pascrell and Steven Rothman for Congress.
When it was difficult to do, and considered very much politically unpopular, County Democrats made tough fiscal decisions that will ultimately place our County in a much better position for many years to come. We have worked unconditionally on the behalf of the taxpayer, and we intend to continue doing so.
We have selected candidates that will continue to fight for taxpayers of Passaic County. Each of our candidates has a wealth of experience, and each has been committed, since day one, to helping working families.
Pat Lepore, serves as Deputy Director of the Freeholder Board and Chairman of its Finance, Administration and Personnel Committee. Freeholder Lepore has been responsible for guiding Passaic County through its tough economic conditions within the past three years. Under his leadership, the County has cut spending by over $19 million dollars, via consolidation and work force reductions; reducing the total amount of employees to its lowest level in over 8 years. Lepore has been a champion of the County’s efforts to sustain all of its services to residents, while remaining fiscally responsible.
Terry Duffy has been Chairman of the Freeholder Board’s Planning and Economic Development Committee since his re-election, in 2007. He also serves as the Chairman of the Law and Public Safety Committee. He has worked tirelessly to upgrade the county’s infrastructure, helped to steer millions of dollars in open space grant funding to municipalities and to establish the non-profit, Friends of Passaic County Parks, in an effort to raise monies to upgrade all of the County’s parks at no expense to the taxpayer.
Rich Berdnik is a real cop, a law enforcement professional with 30 years experience protecting residents of Passaic County. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, he is well respected by peers from local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. He will focus on public safety, integrity, leadership and fiscal responsibility. Rich Berdnik has a natural ability to lead, direct and define accountability for daily operations. Rich Berdnik will make a great Sheriff.
With this team of public servants, residents of Passaic County can be confident that they will be well served in the coming years. These qualified candidates will continue to work relentlessly on the behalf of Passaic County taxpayers and working families.
