Eligibility Criteria for State Committee Candidates

The eligibility criteria for State Committee members is designed to balance inclusivity with a demonstrated commitment to the Democratic Party and are as follows: To be eligible for election as a State Committee member, a candidate must:

● Be a registered voter and a resident of their legislative district for at least one year.

● Have been a registered Democrat for at least two years, except for individuals who have only become eligible to register to vote within the past two years (e.g. newly naturalized citizen, those who just turned 18), in which case they must be a registered Democrat.

● Have voted in the previous two general and primary elections in New Jersey, except for those who recently became eligible to vote.

● Support the principles of the Democratic Party of NJ.
